Petite Portraits FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is your photography style?

A: I am a family and baby photographer, specializing in creating natural light images. I believe in capturing the small quiet moments and creating images that look beautiful displayed in my clients home. Studio sessions are reserved for infants up to age one. I have everything for baby's portraits in my cozy studio, and I like keeping things really simple; I ask that babies 3 months and up come dressed in clean neutral onesie and I'll provide wraps, a little prop when baby wants to play and maybe lovely, delicate small headband, that's it. All the while, capturing baby's tiny features and showcasing their beautiful newness. This approach allows the focus to stay on what really matters, baby.

Q: When should I book my newborn session?

A: Once you know your due date, you can call or email me, and we'll reserve a session date about 1 week after your due date. Please be aware that I book several months in advance and only take a limited number of sessions per month. Newborn sessions work best within baby's first two weeks, while they are still very sleepy and before they lose their newborn characteristics. Once baby arrives, we can tweak the date and time if needed to ensure we get your new little one in for a session during the ideal timeframe around 5-14 days old.

Q: should We bring anything specific to the session?

A: I'll provide all of the props, baskets, blankets necessary for your session. I ask that babies 3 months and up come dressed in clean neutral onesie. Also, I will have any additional  equipment that may be needed for your session so you really don't need to worry about bringing anything specific, just come and relax.

Q: What can We expect from Our newborn session?

A: A typical session can last between 1- 3 hours. This time will be spent posing, photographing, along with soothing, and cuddling; handing off only as needed to Mom & Dad for feeding and changing. Feel free to bring a book, take a nap or simply sit back and enjoy watching the session!

  • Pre-session phone consultation
  • 30 fully edited images - ready within 2 weeks of baby's session
  • Viewing and ordering appointment in the studio - all prints, products and digital images are sold separately.

Q: Who should come to the Studio session?

A: The cozy studio space is reserved for infants up to age one along with Mom & Dad. I recommend saving sibling and family portraits until the 3-4 month session, at which time you can choose either an on-location or lifestyle session.

q: Do you only Offer Studio Sessions?

A: In addition to studio sessions for infants up to age one, I also offer on-location and lifestyle sessions for siblings and families. The setting for your session can be just about anywhere inside during the day with large windows and natural light including as an example - at your home while you're baking cookies together, or outside at a orchard while apple picking - for example, during the sunset or sunrise hours.

Q: What is a lifestyle session?

Lifestyle sessions are a wonderful way to tell your family's story through unique images. These sessions are unposed, and are focused on capturing genuine emotions. The session is centered around an activity you all enjoy doing together like building pillow forts, baking a pie, or picnicking.  The possibilities are endless!
